Minata Kone

Minata Kone (ICLS Visiting Scholar 2011-12) 
Dr. KONE Minata is currently an Assistant Professor who holds B.A degrees both in French and English from the University of Cocody in Abidjan-Côte d’Ivoire. She worked as a junior lecturer at Bouaké University before being transferred to Cocody University where she has continued teaching and research work as a specialist of African literature and Civilization. Her international research career started in 2007 with the Research Chair in Literary and Cultural Transfers of the University of Ottawa-Canada when the Francophone University Agency selected her for the improvement research scholarship. She was a Visiting Scholar at NYU-SCA.

Xiaofan Yang

Yang Xiaofan (ICLS Visiting Scholar 2011-12) is working on research in Modern literary theory of China and Chinese contemporary literature, especially of the 1980's. At Columbia University, she proposes to research and analyze the translation and introduction of American textbooks of literary theory into China in the early twentieth century. This study aims to clarify the development of the meaning of qing(情), the most important category in modern Chinese literary discourse.
