Karen Benezra earned her B.A. in Languages and Literature from Bard College and Ph.D in Romance Studies from Cornell University. Her research focuses on Latin American visual art, literature and social theory of the twentieth century as well as questions of sublimation, social form, subjectivation, hegemony and labor. She is working on a book project that studies the dematerialization of art and industrial design in the 1960s and 70s. Karen also serves as associate editor for ARTMargins (MIT Press).
