Geoffrey Aung
Department Anthropology

Geoffrey Aung is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Columbia University, where he specializes in the anthropology of politics and political thought in South and Southeast Asia. His field research focuses on dispossession, popular politics, and infrastructure in southern Burma (Myanmar), alongside an inquiry into the history and translation of Marxist ideas in Burma since the late colonial period. Previously he worked as a researcher and activist on the Thai-Burma border and inside Burma.
