The Arts of Bandung Humanism Conference

Fowler Museum at UCLA

Saturday, April 18, 10 am to 7 pm

Sunday, April 19, 10 am to 6 pm

This event marks the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, a historical meeting of then newly independent Asian and African states that launched an international cultural movement against racism and imperialism. The conference accompanies the opening of The Sahmat Collective and Making Strange. Together the exhibitions and the conference provide focused attention to the forms of progressive imagination and internationalism that emerged from the societies of the Global South during the Cold War and their fate in more recent times.
