Humanities Honors and Awards: Joseph Albernaz, Farah Jasmine Griffith, and Ying Qian

| Joseph Albernaz (English)
Albernaz was awarded the Modern Language Association Prize for a First Book for Common Measures: Romanticism and the Groundlessness of Community. The award committee called Common Measures “a far-reaching meditation on the poetics and politics of communal life.” |

| Farah Jasmine Griffin (English)
Griffin is the winner of the 2025 Darwin T. Turner Award, presented by the African American Literature and Culture Society. The award is presented to celebrate excellence in scholarship in African American culture and literature. |

| Ying Qian (EALAC)
Qian was awarded an honorable mention for the Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione Prize for East Asian Studies from the MLA for her book Revolutionary Becomings: Documentary Media in Twentieth-Century China. The committee wrote: “Combining finely crafted analysis with a bold theoretical perspective…Revolutionary Becomings breaks new ground in the field of contemporary media and imagines new paths of scholarly inquiry.” |
