OFFICE HOURS SIGN-UP SHEET

I am a Lecturer at the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society and the Department of French, and the ICLS Director of Undergraduate Studies. Before coming to Columbia, I taught at Yale University where I also received my PhD in Film and Media Studies and French in 2022. I am an interdisciplinary film and media scholar researching the transmission of modernity across different cultural forms in the long term, with a specialization in the French and Francophone early nineteenth century and mid-twentieth century. My manuscript in progress, tentatively titled Not Your Pop’s Movies: The Novel Foundations of the French Cinema of Quality (1941–1959), reappraises the politics and aesthetics of pre-New Wave film.
