Tomi Haxhi
Coordinator
Institute for Comparative Literature and Society

Tomi is the Coordinator of the Institute of Comparative Literature and Society, having joined the team in November 2023. Tomi recently completed his PhD in Slavic at Columbia, where he also taught Russian language and literature for four years. His dissertation focused on Soviet and post-Soviet science fiction from the Revolution to the Putin era, looking at discourses of humanism and posthumanism as they shaped the “New Soviet Man,” the ideal Soviet socio-political subject. He previously served as an administrative fellow at ICLS in 2018-2019. He has also served as the graduate coordinator at CSSD and as the rapporteur of the Columbia University Seminar in Slavic History and Culture. In his spare time, Tomi is a freelance translator and editor.
