Vivian Arimany
Department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures

Vivian Arimany is a poet, translator, and scholar from Guatemala, obtaining a PhD from the
Latin American and Iberian Studies department at Columbia University. She earned an MA in
Hispanic literatures at Michigan State University, where she worked on a thesis project about
queerness and the symbolism of nature in the poetry of Gabriela Mistral. During her doctoral
studies, Vivian hopes to research issues pertaining to queer, gender and sexuality studies in
Hispanic and Francophone cultural productions.
