Call for Proposals for Mass Intellectuality and the University

October 8, 2021 – Opportunities

This opportunity is for all undergraduate students majoring or concentrating with the department.

ICLS invites majors and concentrators to propose events for its upcoming Mass Intellectuality and the University series this year. We are looking for student-led proposals, from a collaborative of 3 or more students, that engage with the histories of activism at CU or informal conversations with Columbia faculty about how they came to do what they do (part personal, part reflective as a scholar), etc. As the organizer of the event, you are expected to engage with your proposed speaker as the interlocutor or to select a fellow student to serve in this capacity. Winning proposals will receive a small budget which can be used to offer in honorarium to non-Columbia affiliated guest speaker for virtual events or to host a reception for in person (CU-affiliate-only) events. All events must meet the COVID-19 Safety Policies on Gathering. A budget will be provided for a small dinner to be hosted afterward. Proposals can be made by email to icls@columbia.edu with the subject line: “CFP Mass Intellectuality and the University”.
