Congrats to the ICLS undergrads receiving departmental honors and awards

We have a big list of students to congratulate at the end of this academic year.
A big congrats to everyone receiving departmental honors:
CLS: Kathy Fang, Aiden Sagerman, and Emi Mizumoto
MedHum: Hreedi Dev, Priya Chainani, and Rachel Nielson
To Alisa Shodiyev Kaff for her nomination to the John Angus Burrell Prize.
To our Phi Beta Kappa initiates: Elli Dassopoulos, Alisa Shodiyev Kaff, and Aimar Arizmendi. Aimar also won the Phi Beta Kappa Award! At the end of the fall semester, Kathy Fang, Victor Swezey, and Aiden Sagerman were also initiated into PBK.
And to the two winners of the Catherine Medalia Johannet Memorial Prize. Their thesis titles are below:
“Beyond ‘Mutilation’: Reimagining West African Womanhood in the Global Female Genital Cutting Discourse,” by Nadia Malaika Kabba, advised by Thomas Zuber (History).
“‘The hell of living in the present’: Foreign Debt and Temporality in Argentine and Francophone West African Literature and Cinema Since 1960,” by Victor Swezey, advised by Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak (University Professor).
Congratulations also to Kathy Fang who is the Columbia College Valedictorian this year!
