ICLS Statement In Support of Students

April 21, 2024 – Topics of Interest

On behalf of our Director Anupama Rao and our faculty officers, we are disheartened by the events unfolding on campus. The Institute for Comparative Literature and Society stands with our students who face arrest, suspension, and NYPD incursion for expressing their constitutional rights of assembly and free speech on their campus. We encourage our faculty to offer students accommodations as they see fit.
We call on the university administration to disinvite the NYPD and engage with the student protestors, revoke suspensions and expunge the disciplinary records of sanctioned students.
