Jennifer Wenzel’s “The Disposition of Nature” shortlisted for 2020 ASAP Book Prize

November 5, 2020 – Achievements

English and MESAAS Professor Jennifer Wenzel’s latest book, The Disposition of Nature: Environmental Crisis and World Literature, has been shortlisted for the 2020 Book Prize, awarded by the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present (ASAP). ASAP’s Book Prize is awarded annually for the book that makes the most significant contribution to the study of the arts of the present.

Wenzel’s book examines how literature shapes understandings of nature and can therefore be both complicit in environmental harm and part of an environmentalist practice. The book devotes particular attention to formerly colonized regions (e.g. Africa and South Asia) in order to understand the relationships among imperialism, globalization, and environmental injustice

Congratulations from all of us at ICLS!
