Lydia Liu Publishes Essay, “Alphabetarchy,” in the London Review of Books

Lydia Liu recently had her essay, “Alphabetarchy,” published in the London Review of Books. The essay centers around hanzi script in 19th-century China and tensions caused by Western technological inventions, such as the telegraph, which excluded complex scripts, like hanzi.
