Anthropologist Mahmood Mamdani has been voted third in Prospect Magazine’s 2021 “List of Top 50 Thinkers to Rebuild the World.” The selection spotlights Professor Mamdani’s scholarship on colonial “define and rule” attitudes towards ethnic or religious minorities and the persistence of these attitudes in postcolonial states.
