Pamela Smith awarded Sarton Medal

Congratulations to ICLS Executive Committee Member Professor Pamela Smith who is also the Founding Director of the Center for Science and Society, for receiving the History of Science Society’s Sarton Medal! As the Society’s most prestigious award, it honors a lifetime of scholarly achievement.

The Society’s announcement declares Pamela a “transformative figure in the history of science, particularly through her pioneering work on the material culture of early modern science.” Pamela has influenced the field through her collaborative approach to the history of science and her generosity to junior scholars, along with her impressive catalog of scholarly publications. The announcement also mentioned her work as Founding Director of the Center for Science and Society and its Research Cluster, the Making and Knowing Project.
