Anthropologist Rosalind Morris and her collaborators have received a major award from the Sloan Foundation in support of their new opera, ‘Southern Crossings’, with news of the grant first announced last month. The project will be housed at Barnard College’s Department of Africana Studies, which will also develop an educational program to accompany the opera. The work is currently slated for production in late 2021.

Professor Morris also recently spoke at the Pembroke Center at Brown University, on “The Simulacrum of Sovereign Debt.”
