We are thrilled to invite you to join us at “Italics: writing, translating, and performing Italian poetry in America today,” a one-day event co-organized by Multiverse Poetry Club (Columbia University) and World Poetry in Translation, which will take place on June 7, 2023, at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America (Columbia University).

“Italics” will bring together poets, translators, and publishers to share their experiences on contemporary Italian poetry in America. The event is free of charge, but registration is required. To participate, please reserve your spot here. If you would like to support this and future initiatives you can donate here.

At this stage, we are inviting poets who write in Italian to submit up to two unpublished poems for a reading during the event. We also welcome submissions from translators of Italian poetry into English, and we are open to any medium. Selected poets and translators will have the opportunity to read and present their work during an in-person reading and receive feedback from published poets, experienced translators, and distinguished editors. The selected poems will also be featured in the publication of the event’s proceedings.

To submit your poems, please send them as a Word document or PDF attachment, including your name, email address, and a short bio in the body of the email, to italicsnyc@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 12.

We kindly request your support in spreading the word about this event to anyone who might be interested in joining us. Attached to this email, you will find a description of the event and the call for poets for your reference.
