Share love with us in a night of poetry and conversation

More details can be found here.

Thank you so much for your interest in our Racial Justice Poetry Slam! For a general overview, this event was created with the intent of educating and promoting the exchange of stories through art. Inspired by the works of political activists Tupac Shakur, author of The Rose That Grew from Concrete, and his mother Afeni Shakur, we hope to welcome all Black New Yorkers who would like to share their experiences of Black love in NYC and Harlem through poetry, music, lyric, or speech.

This event is sponsored by University Life along with other departments at Columbia University. All are invited to learn, transform and share Black love on April 14th at 6:30PM-8PM on Zoom.

Although this is a poetry slam event, performers can also explore other types of art–Music, writing, etc. Group performances are also welcome!

Each performer will have about 5-7 minutes in the spotlight so we are able to accommodate as many as possible.

We hope to create a safe, welcoming environment for us to learn and grow together as a community, from concrete. If you’d like to perform or just attend, please answer the questions below and we’ll be in touch shortly with further details! Thank you so much!
